René Renger

What defines me?

I am a dreamer, an idealist, an obsessed and an incorrigible optimist. If I really believe in something, then I will do everything to create it. With this energy I want to create things that inspire people and move them in the truest sense. That drives me.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I am Rene founder and CEO of NOVUS. I was born in 1984 and founded NOVUS GmbH in 2019 after I invented NOVUS together with Marcus Weidig during my studies. The reason to make a real vehicle from this idea is very simple. I want to know what you are able to do if you put all your strength and energy into something, once, once, without being stopped by anything or anyone. This is NOVUS!

What did I do before?

I am M.A. Industrial designer and worked as a car designer at Volkswagen before NOVUS. It was always a childhood dream and I'm proud to see my designs in the streets. To create things out of nothing and to do it so that these things get a whole energy of their own is a dream. You only give up a dream like this if you dare to dream an even bigger one ...

Marcus Weidig

What defines me?

For me as a creative person, it is difficult not to question what is given. Growing up with a deep passion for details, I believe in the potential that results from the harmony of aesthetics and construction in a common symbiosis. From one source, one spirit.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I am a lead developer at NOVUS and am primarily responsible for the topics of vehicle design, fiber composite components, chassis and prototype construction. Over many years I have autodidactically acquired knowledge in the field of two-wheel technology and prototype construction. Combined with my creativity and my skills as a trained designer, I can help turn NOVUS into an impressive machine with a holistic approach. I find solutions where others give up quickly.

What did I do before?

Anyone born in Glashütte (Germany) grows up with a very special feeling for mechanics and details. My father showed me that, and he is still at my side today with help and advice. After completing my MA in Industrial Design, I was able to use my perfectionism and this special feeling for details as an interface designer at Volkswagen. Until 2019 I was involved in a large number of projects here. However, I was unable to use my creativity and my knowledge from two-wheeler and prototype construction sufficiently here, which is why I decided at the beginning of 2020 to go the way into the future with NOVUS.

Hendrik Nater

What defines me?

I've always drawn and worked on bicycles and motorcycles. Invisible ideas can be made visible with a pen - that fascinates me. When it comes to motorcycling, I'm less excited about the high numbers on the speedometer, but rather about pushing the physical limits on my supermoto. In design projects, I combine both aspects and develop products that exhaust what is possible and open up unusual new things.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I'm Hendrik and I work as a freelance product designer. The NOVUS Bike was the first project for me that was radically design-oriented. It's a great feeling when design aspects are implemented directly without compromising. My focus at NOVUS is "Parts and Details". So I support the team on the handlebar and stem unit, with generically generated textures, with vehicle graphics and with model construction.

What did I do before?

I studied industrial design together with the NOVUS founders René and Marcus in Halle. After completing my master’s degree at Volkswagen in 2016, I decided to work as a freelance product and transportation designer.

Marijan Petricevic

What defines me?

I’m a curious, knowledge thirsty and creative person. I like to face new challenges and I don’t give in until I overcome them. To do so with like-minded peoples is priceless to me!

What do I do at NOVUS?

Here at NOVUS I’m responsible for the electrical/ electronic system. This includes the development, design and implementation of the hardware and software architecture.

What did I do before?

I’ve studied Informatics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. During this time I’ve been a working student at the research and development department of Daimler. Additionally I’ve implemented the Demo App for the first NOVUS prototype. Later I’ve been a research assistant at the Research Centre for Information Technology, where I’ve working on topics in the context of autonomous driving. After finishing my thesis I wanted to challenge myself with something new and I’ve joined NOVUS again.

Martin Tischendorf

What defines me?

Anyone born in a year that made movie quotes like, "May the juice be with you." is inevitably not entirely normal. Fortunately, there are like-minded people with just as much humor and devotion to a crazy idea. I became interested in crafts and mechanics from an early age. As a child, I once repaired a clock with a hammer. It didn't work after that, but it had shaped my direction since then. Nowadays I would describe myself as very serious. When I start something, I also finish it - and as father always said, not quickly, but sensibly!1

What do I do at NOVUS?

Hi! My name is Martin and I come from a small town in Thuringia. At NOVUS GmbH, I support the areas of 3D visualization and production on a part-time basis. Here I can contribute to better decision-making in important steps in the prototype phase. When do you get this chance?

What did I do before?

I come from the field of mechanical engineering. More precisely, I am a graduate engineer. (FH) for automotive engineering. So building a lot of Legos wasn't in vain. During my studies, however, I noticed my affinity for design. I later started my career as a CAD modeller in 2010. To this day, I still work very successfully in this area. But I feel really good when the garage doors open after the work is done, light falls on the old sheet metal and I can get my hands a little dirty.

Julian Ziege

What defines me?

I am a mechanic and a doer. Something has to move and I understand what to do. And it should be beautiful. Beauty has many facets, perfect function and the optimal material are part of it. I take everything apart and put it back together again. With your hand and in your head. Then I understand. Otherwise, I keep the team happy.

What do I do at NOVUS?

What do I do at NOVUS?

I'm a business economist and industrial engineer, but also a screwdriver and welder, so more of a generalist. During my studies, I was primarily responsible for a mobility project and then also a start-up consultant. I now feel at home in manufacturing technology or the manufacturing industry, and I've been active in waterjet cutting for the past four years. As a part-time job, I run a small manufacture for two-wheelers. I love mobility and have been working professionally for years in the construction of bicycle and motorcycle components. Customizing is my passion and we are going into series production with it. Brilliant!

Eric Liebau

What defines me?

Through my determination, but also through my realism, I manage to correctly assess tasks and reliably implement what has been set for me. I approach the tasks I have set myself with a lot of patience, whereby failures also motivate me to break new ground in order to always find the right solution in the end. My accuracy, with a slight tendency to be meticulous, distinguishes me particularly here, even if this can sometimes cost others nerves.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I started at NOVUS almost 10 years ago with the development of the smartphone app that went with the product - an absolute novelty at the time, but now a matter of course. In the meantime, I am not only active in the administration of the backend as the lifeline of the entire company, but also support in all areas that require my specialist expertise. Starting with electronics, through support with software implementation to coordinating development partners.

What did I do before?

I am a graduate engineer in the field of electrical engineering and information technology as well as in the field of technical informatics. It is precisely in these areas that I not only live out professionally at Daimler AG, but also use my skills in the private sphere to make my home as intelligent as possible and to develop it into a real Skynet.

Marcus Welzel

What defines me?

My passion is implementing ideas and developing solutions. I like to do this with the necessary calm, dexterity and creativity.

What do I do at NOVUS?

In my free time, I work as a craftsman at NOVUS ovus and I am happy that I can support the team with the production and finishing of prototype parts, among other things.

What did I do before?

After finishing school, I completed an apprenticeship as a dental technician. Then I was looking for a new challenge, which I found professionally as a model maker.

Caroline Höffeler

What defines me?

Friends say that I am a good listener and very attentive. I think and act with foresight and usually recognize the second step before the first has been taken. My job requires that I am emphatic, helpful and open to new things, which I have been able to count among my qualities since childhood. Getting to know a wide variety of people, the desire to learn new knowledge and to have new experiences are things I like to do. But most of all I love to dance.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I'm Caroline and I work part-time as an assistant to the management at NOVUS. In addition to the entire office organization of the start-up, from bookkeeping, paperwork, telephone calls to research into guidelines and catering for the team, I also work in the marketing area. One of my main tasks is to keep my back on the guys and to make their work on the hottest e-motorcycle in the world easier. Sometimes I have to fall back on my work as a childhood educator.

What did I do before?

For a few years now I have been working here in Braunschweig as a childhood teacher in a company kindergarten.

Markus Bednarzik

What defines me?

As long as I can remember, I've been a hobbyist and problem solver for technical challenges. I owe my artistic streak and the ability to create great things with my head and hands to growing up in an artistically and technically gifted family. In my youth I spent a lot of time building RC models, from building my own model to flying these models. Crafting with wood and metal and creating unique pieces of furniture is one of my great passions today.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I'm Markus and in my free time I support NOVUS with the electrification of this unique machine. Since I've known NOVUS, I've been enthusiastic about the idea and the design. My drive is no less to design an electric drive that is equivalent to the outstanding design. In addition, I use my creative skills to find solutions to a variety of challenges in the development process.

What did I do before?

The apprenticeship as an electrician and the study in regenerative energy technology give me the ability to face the development challenge of electrical storage and drive systems. The construction of vehicle components, from design and support through to series production, has been my main occupation for many years in the automotive industry. It has always been my wish to become an engineer in order to have the tools not only professionally but also privately to face technical challenges. I'm fascinated by electromobility and think it's great to be able to use my skills to make a contribution to this huge step in mobility development not only professionally but also in my free time.

Alexander Klein

What defines me?

As a child, a radio kit and Lego technology revealed the power behind technical understanding in connection with creativity. Screwing on cars later also increased my enthusiasm for technology and design. Since then I have loved to approach things with patience and a touch of perfection, not because I have to, but because I want to. I think I am a cheerful, versatile and curious person. This world has so much to offer. And I want to be part of it.

What do I do at NOVUS?

My name is Alex and I support NOVUS in the area of concept development and construction with a focus on plastic components. I was able to develop without restrictions on the steering unit, the rear light, the license plate and other assemblies and use my experience in developing the components. I believe that with what we do at NOVUS, we can change the world in a positive way. And we can do this with a bike that was designed uncompromisingly with attention to detail. From all of us.

What did I do before?

Taking an active part in the creation of a product has become my passion, which I have enjoyed for over 20 years. I gained my experience in the automotive environment and since 2013 I have been looking after development projects from the concept to the finished product for well-known automobile manufacturers and suppliers as an independent designer.

Lorenzo Reinhardt

What defines me?

I live for vehicles. I grew up in a family that started my own business in the automobile and two-wheeler industries. From an early age I experienced my parents' passion for motorcycles and cars and developed a great enthusiasm for them myself. So I regularly go on motorcycle tours in the Harz Mountains and have fun working on vintage cars in my free time. I am an open-minded, eloquent person who is up for everyone to have fun.

What do I do at NOVUS?

In addition to small design tasks, I developed the mechanical parts of the recuperation. As the project progressed, it was important to ensure that the goods were received and that the parts were traced. My focus at NOVUS will develop over the next few months. My master's thesis is supposed to deal with the final street legal approval of the motorcycle and will therefore be a very important part of the development. It is important to me to deliver added value and to draw on the high level of competence of the team members. Even if I set myself high goals and it is important to me to achieve them, team spirit and a sense of unity in the team are very important to me.

What did I do before?

For one and a half years I have been deepening my knowledge from my mechanical engineering bachelor's degree in my master's degree in the field of vehicle technology. During my studies as well as in my part-time job at NOVUS, I keep discovering that I like to overcome my limits and that I would like to constantly improve. After completing my Masters, I would like to deepen my interests in vehicle registration and train as a test engineer.
