René Renger

What defines me?

I am a dreamer, an idealist, an obsessed and an incorrigible optimist. If I really believe in something, then I will do everything to create it. With this energy I want to create things that inspire people and move them in the truest sense. That drives me.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I am Rene founder and CEO of NOVUS. I was born in 1984 and founded NOVUS GmbH in 2019 after I invented NOVUS together with Marcus Weidig during my studies. The reason to make a real vehicle from this idea is very simple. I want to know what you are able to do if you put all your strength and energy into something, once, once, without being stopped by anything or anyone. This is NOVUS!

What did I do before?

I am M.A. Industrial designer and worked as a car designer at Volkswagen before NOVUS. It was always a childhood dream and I'm proud to see my designs in the streets. To create things out of nothing and to do it so that these things get a whole energy of their own is a dream. You only give up a dream like this if you dare to dream an even bigger one ...

Marcus Weidig

What defines me?

For me as a creative person, it is difficult not to question what is given. Growing up with a deep passion for details, I believe in the potential that results from the harmony of aesthetics and construction in a common symbiosis. From one source, one spirit.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I am a lead developer at NOVUS and am primarily responsible for the topics of vehicle design, fiber composite components, chassis and prototype construction. Over many years I have autodidactically acquired knowledge in the field of two-wheel technology and prototype construction. Combined with my creativity and my skills as a trained designer, I can help turn NOVUS into an impressive machine with a holistic approach. I find solutions where others give up quickly.

What did I do before?

Anyone born in Glashütte (Germany) grows up with a very special feeling for mechanics and details. My father showed me that, and he is still at my side today with help and advice. After completing my MA in Industrial Design, I was able to use my perfectionism and this special feeling for details as an interface designer at Volkswagen. Until 2019 I was involved in a large number of projects here. However, I was unable to use my creativity and my knowledge from two-wheeler and prototype construction sufficiently here, which is why I decided at the beginning of 2020 to go the way into the future with NOVUS.

Alexander Klein

What defines me?

As a child, a radio kit and Lego technology revealed the power behind technical understanding in connection with creativity. Screwing on cars later also increased my enthusiasm for technology and design. Since then I have loved to approach things with patience and a touch of perfection, not because I have to, but because I want to. I think I am a cheerful, versatile and curious person. This world has so much to offer. And I want to be part of it.

What do I do at NOVUS?

My name is Alex and I support NOVUS in the area of concept development and construction with a focus on plastic components. I was able to develop without restrictions on the steering unit, the rear light, the license plate and other assemblies and use my experience in developing the components. I believe that with what we do at NOVUS, we can change the world in a positive way. And we can do this with a bike that was designed uncompromisingly with attention to detail. From all of us.

What did I do before?

Taking an active part in the creation of a product has become my passion, which I have enjoyed for over 20 years. I gained my experience in the automotive environment and since 2013 I have been looking after development projects from the concept to the finished product for well-known automobile manufacturers and suppliers as an independent designer.

Julian Ziege

What defines me?

I am a mechanic and doer. Something has to move and I understand what needs to be done. And it should be beautiful. Beauty has many facets, perfect function and the optimal material are part of it. I take everything apart and put it back together. With your hand and in your head. Then I get it. Otherwise, I keep the team happy.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I am Julian, designer, mechanic and brand thinker at Novus. I work with great passion and creativity in the NOVUS team. In addition to the things I can already do, I satisfy my infinite curiosity and am enthusiastic about the changing moment of novus. I am responsible for the development, design and optimization of the mechanical hardware of the NOVUS One. Furthermore, I also work conceptually on the company NOVUS GmbH and, in addition to the vehicle, also help to develop the NOVUS brand into the first German premium two-wheeler brand.

What did I do before?

I am a business economist and industrial engineer, but also a screwdriver and welder. So more of a generalist. I was already the main person responsible for a mobility project during my studies and then also a start-up consultant. In the meantime, I feel comfortable in production technology and quality support, having previously been active in waterjet cutting for a few years. I love mobility and have been working professionally for years in the design of bicycle and motorcycle components. I feel my greatest enthusiasm for customizing, surfaces and high-quality materials and at NOVUS we go into series production with it.

Helge Muehlmeier

What defines me?

I am someone who likes to solve problems by breaking down complex tasks into simple partial problems. Thanks to my experience and versatility, I can quickly build bridges between individual branches of technology and thus quickly generate viable solutions. My direct and straightforward nature helps me to integrate my environment. I am always interested in new technologies and processes and am happy to acquire knowledge self-taught. I also like to relax to metal! Go Lemmy, Go!

I was able to gain experience in the automotive industry at a large automotive supplier. I am also familiar with the application of kinematics and FEM software in the ongoing development process.

Andre Finke

What defines me?

There's no such thing as can't! Some will say: with this attitude, failure is pre-programmed. But I am convinced that only by tackling tasks that seem impossible can you achieve things that would otherwise have been beyond your grasp, and that this is the only way to surpass yourself. Would we otherwise have been able to land on the moon, for example, if everyone had always said, "Phew, that's pretty far..."? I don't think so.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I make sure that the NOVUS Bike gets moving and thus brings this sculpture on wheels to life. Only when the battery, power electronics, motor and control units work hand in hand can the bike develop its full power. From concept development and battery cell tests to component selection, CAD design, the creation of circuit diagrams, the application of battery and motor control units, and communication with development partners, everything is involved. And that's what makes working at NOVUS so exciting and challenging.

What did I do before?

My youthful enthusiasm for cars drew me into mechanical engineering studies, which then gave me the opportunity to gain a lot of know-how with electric powertrains in motorsports. Exploiting technical possibilities and proving them in competition was a great experience that I wouldn't want to miss and that I can now continue to live out at Novus.

Ziad Salem

What defines me?

A commitment to continuous learning and personal growth, combined with a passion for problem-solving, drives success. Limitations are only set by the boundaries we place on ourselves. Working in a team environment where collaboration is valued brings out the best in individuals and fosters success.

What do I do at NOVUS?

As part of NOVUS, my primary focus is on assisting the team in tackling complex engineering problems and making informed and knowledge-based decisions. This is achieved through the utilization of various methods and tools to predict component behavior and evaluate the performance of parts and assemblies. The goal is to achieve the optimal balance between performance, cost, and design, allowing for more space for creativity and a touch of daring.

Through multiple competitions and projects, I have acquired valuable insights into the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Financial Engineering, and Programming

Hendrik Nater

What defines me?

I've always drawn and worked on bicycles and motorcycles. Invisible ideas can be made visible with a pen - that fascinates me. When it comes to motorcycling, I'm less excited about the high numbers on the speedometer, but rather about pushing the physical limits on my supermoto. In design projects, I combine both aspects and develop products that exhaust what is possible and open up unusual new things.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I'm Hendrik and I work as a freelance product designer. The NOVUS Bike was the first project for me that was radically design-oriented. It's a great feeling when design aspects are implemented directly without compromising. My focus at NOVUS is "Parts and Details". So I support the team on the handlebar and stem unit, with generically generated textures, with vehicle graphics and with model construction.

What did I do before?

I studied industrial design together with the NOVUS founders René and Marcus in Halle. After completing my master’s degree at Volkswagen in 2016, I decided to work as a freelance product and transportation designer.

Andreas Schünemann

What defines me?

The edge of the plate is not the limit. I'm always interested in learning as much as I can on a project and sharing and applying that knowledge again. I'm a practical tech nerd and still know many innovations from a time when they could be unscrewed. Asked about other strengths and character traits, friends and colleagues would hopefully say this about me: binding, persistent, well organized, communicative and for me the most important: always ready to help.

What do I do at NOVUS?

I bring my experience in the field of electrics with all its facets and especially in the field of e-mobility into this innovative product. It is important to me that all my colleagues benefit from this knowledge. I organize and take care of the communication with external partners. My strengths in the development of wiring systems include both CAD and electrical wiring.

What did I do before?

My professional career began with an apprenticeship as an electrician and master craftsman. I quickly realized that working in the trades on a construction site was not what I wanted to do. So after my apprenticeship I switched to industry, where I started in production at a large grooved vehicle manufacturer and eventually worked in e-development. After moving to the automotive sector, I worked in development, industrial engineering and sales. Later, as team leader for on-board network development and then as project manager, areas such as quality, purchasing, personnel management, production and, above all, troubleshooting were added.

Martin Tischendorf

What defines me?

My penchant for sci-fi movies. Because that's exactly what NOVUS is all about. I would like to help shape the future here. Because let's be honest - don't we all want to travel back in time with a Delorean? In addition, I make an incredibly good coffee, have a green thumb and look good.

What do I do at NOVUS?

On a part-time basis, I accompany the initial relay race from the basic design to the first productions. On the CAD side, I try to simplify decision-making through my know-how in the field of design. This includes, for.B example, the preparation of VR scenes in order to offer a better decision-making option when it comes to design issues. Last but not least, I also support in the field of rapid prototyping. As soon as a basic idea has been forced, the image is produced in 3D and then checked again.

What did I do before?

I would say waited for years for this opportunity. As a Dipl.-Ing. (FH) for automotive engineering, you would like to be part of such an extraordinary company. I work full-time as a CAD modeler in the automotive industry and ensure that the ideas of the designers find their way into the later manufacturing process.

Maik Schwierzy

What defines me?

My thirst for knowledge of the subject, coupled with the general interest in law. I want to be able to understand and comprehend everything in the world. If I don't understand something, everything possible is set in motion until I still understand it. In addition, I like to grow through new challenges. Because: “Life is meant to be a challenge, because challenges make you grow.”

What do I do at NOVUS?

I'm Maik and I mainly work on the questions about the approval of the bike. Whether individual approval or type approval; whether for individual parts or for the entire vehicle, I find out the requirements to be fulfilled and pass them on to the team members. In addition, I answer all questions about the topic of "law" in general.

What did I do before?

In May 2021, I came fresh out of law school and started at NOVUS immediately afterwards. I already knew the working world well enough from countless professional activities, which is why the start was easy.

Julian Bolte

What defines me?

I have always been a very ambitious and inquisitive person who loves to face new challenges in order to expand and optimize my own thinking and approaches. Due to my penchant for perfectionism, I always try to find the optimal solution approach and to take the best possible insights for new tasks with me from my mistakes. I can perfectly satisfy my desire for innovation and progressive approaches here at NOVUS.

Michael Schneppenhorst

What defines me?

As the son of a car mechanic and racing driver, I already had the wrench in my hand as a child. The enthusiasm for technical processes, both in the planning and in the implementation was not left out. As a creative balance to the technical, I have developed a passion in recent years in the field of filming and photography. With the combination I have a very unique perspective and approach to solving problems.

What do I do at NOVUS?

On the one hand, I am responsible for content creation at NOVUS. Especially in the area of photography and videography is my strength. On the other hand, I support the design team in the area of CAD with my fascination for technical things and the skills from my engineering studies.

What did I do before?

I did my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University .
